March 28-April 1

The Spelling Bee is this Wednesday at 2:00p.m.

Math: This week we are finishing our Geometry unit. Students will be tested next week. There will be homework every day but Friday.

Writing: We are still working on Narrative writing skills.

Reading: Student book reports are due Thursday. Students must have their poster done Thursday even if their presentation is on Friday. Students received a note on Monday indicating what time they will present. If you would like to attend your child's presentation, you are more than welcome.

Spelling: The packet is due and the test will be take Friday. The words this week are: shuttle, celestial, astronomy, revolution, comet, galaxy, axis, orbit, meteors, motion, universe, light-year, solar, rotation, telescope, asteroids, eclipse, satellite, constellation, and lunar.

Science: We are finishing our unit on Electricity and will take the test this Thursday. Students will have a study guide to study from on Tuesday.

Social Studies: Students will be finishing their study of Westward Movement on Friday. Next week they will take the test. This Friday they will be quizzed on the Upper South States. They must be able to identify the following states on a map, match the capitol, and the postal code. The following states are:

Kentucky, Frankfort, KY
West Virginia, Charleston, WV
Virginia, Richmond, VA
Tennessee, Nashville, TN
North Carolina, Raleigh, NC

March 21-25

Math: We are learning about area this week. Students will have homework every day but Friday.

Writing: We are learning about how to write Narratives.

Reading: The book report March 31. Presentations will be March 31 and April 1st. I will send home a note with the time your child will be presenting so that you can come and watch if you like.

Spelling: The packet is due and the test will be this Friday. The words this week are: thunderstorm, strawberry, birthday, sailboat, cheeseburger, hallway, nightmare, notebook, upset, cartwheel, flashlight, chalkboard, grasshopper, suitcase, sawdust, uproar, weekend, homework, blueberry, and breakfast.

Science: We are learning about Electricity

Social Studies: We are talking about the Westward movement.

March 14-17






Meet our new class pet hamsters!! The kids finished earning their Pet Points on Monday and will meet their 2 new friends on Tuesday! We will vote on their names that same day.

Math: This week we will continue our Geometry unit. Students will have homework Monday through Wednesday.

Writing: Students will finish their first narrative this week.

Reading: The book report genre this month is Biography. Students should finish reading their books this week so that they can have sufficient time to finish the poster and plan their presentations. Presentations will be March 31 and April 1st. I will send home a schedule with the time your child will present so that if you would like to attend, you may.

Spelling: The packet is due and the test will be this Thursday. The words for this week are: share, charge, discharge, aware, harvest, prepare, fare, alarm, farther, stare, carefully, starve, margin, depart, declare, compare, square, marbles, apartment, and bare. I give students about 1 hour in class every week to work on their packet. If they cannot complete it in the given time, they will have to finish at home.

Science: We took the Magnetism test on Monday and will begin Electricity on Tuesday.

Social Studies: We are learning about the Western Movement!

March 7-11

Parent Teacher Conference is Wednesday and Thursday. Your child will bring home a note with a reminder of your scheduled time on Tuesday.

Math: We are continuing our Geometry unit this week. Students will have homework every day Monday-Wednesday.

Writing: We are starting Narrative writing. Students will be writing a short story this week.

Reading: The genre for this month's book report is Biography. Students must select a book that is at least 100 pages long on their reading level by Wednesday. They were already given time last week to choose one from our library. Their project is to fill out the Biography poster (they will be given the poster this Wednesday), dress up as the person, and give a 3-5 minute presentation in 1st person. Presentations will be on March 31st and April 1st.

Spelling: The test will be given and the packet is due Thursday. The words for this week are: skirt, purpose, earn, certain, dirty, service, furnish, early, thirteen, perfect, permit, firm, hurt, furniture, learning, heard, perfume, third, pearl, and personal.

Science: We are finishing Magnetism this week and will begin Electricity.

Social Studies: We are learning about the Westward Movement. Students will take a map test on the Upper South states on Thursday. They will have time to study these in class.
